Ganpat Metal provides this comprehensive online metal weight calculator for engineers,
fabricators, estimators, and procurement managers to calculate theoretical weights across
various product forms and alloy grades.
Calculations are based on standard
geometrical formulas and certified metallurgical alloy densities. For bulk procurement

Enter pipe outer diameter (OD), wall thickness (WT), length, and select the material grade to calculate theoretical weight.
Enter bar diameter (mm), length, and select the material grade to calculate round bar weight.
Enter across flats (AF in mm), length, and select the material grade to calculate hex bar weight.
Enter thickness (mm), width (mm), length (mm), and select material grade to calculate plate weight.
Enter width (mm), thickness/height (mm), length (mm), and select material grade to calculate flat bar weight.
Standard geometric formulas used to determine the theoretical weight of metal and alloy engineering products:
Weight = (OD - WT) × WT × 0.02466 × L
Where OD & WT are in mm, L in meters, and factor corresponds to steel density (7.85 g/cm³).
Weight = Dia² × 0.00617 × Length (m)
Or: π × (D / 2)² × Length × Density. Diameter in mm, result in kilograms.
Weight = AF² × 0.00680 × Length (m)
Where AF is the across flats measurement in mm, result in kilograms for steel.
Weight = Thk × Width × Length × Density
For steel: Thickness (mm) × Width (m) × Length (m) × 7.85 kg/m² per mm.
Weight = Width × Thk × Length × Density
Dimensions in mm divided by 10⁶ gives volume in m³, multiplied by alloy density.
1 kg = 2.20462 lbs | 1 MT = 1000 kg
1 Meter = 3.28084 Feet | 1 Inch = 25.4 Millimeters.
